Solo Self Found and the Tower leaderboards

Season 14 made Solo Self Found a real mode with its own leaderboards, and made it irreversible. That second part is the one to read carefully before you tick the box on character creation, because there is no route back for the rest of the season.

Last checked against current sources on 13 August 2026.

What ticking the box actually does

Solo Self Found is a permanent state on a character, chosen at creation and not changeable afterwards. An SSF character must be seasonal, and can be either Normal or Hardcore. The restrictions:

  • No parties. You cannot group, at all.
  • No trading. Everything you use, you found.
  • A separate economy. SSF characters share their stash, currency, Paragon and more only with other SSF characters on the account. Your normal seasonal characters cannot pass anything across, in either direction.
  • Some content is off the table: Free Trial, Couch Co-Op and the Dark Citadel are all unavailable.

At season end, SSF characters convert to Eternal characters like any other seasonal character.

The separate stash is the part that surprises people This is not just a rule about who you play with. It is a second, parallel account economy. Every material, every currency, every Paragon point you have banked on your existing seasonal characters is invisible to your SSF character, and starting one means starting the season's material grind again from zero. That is the actual cost of the mode, and it is much larger than "cannot group".

The Tower, out of beta

The reason to accept all that is the leaderboard. The Tower leaves beta in Season 14 with new cosmetic rewards attached, and it now runs separate divisions for Solo Self Found, in both Normal and Hardcore, alongside the existing categories.

That separation is what makes the mode meaningful rather than merely harder. An SSF run is no longer competing against players who traded for their gear, which is the complaint every self imposed solo challenge has always had.

Rewards are granted at each leaderboard reset and again at season end, and appear on your next login. They come in two currencies of prestige: a Halo cosmetic and a Prestige Title, both based on the best rank you achieved.

Leaderboard reward tiers. Each tier awards a Halo cosmetic and a Prestige Title matched to your best rank.

ProgressionPlay the Tower, and reach Tower Tier 100 or above. This is the participation tier and it is genuinely reachable.
Top 1,000On any leaderboard, which includes the SSF divisions. Worth knowing that a smaller pool is an easier pool.

Cosmetic rewards reset seasonally, but an emblem showing your highest rank from the previous season carries forward, which is the only piece of this that persists.

Should you actually do it

An honest answer rather than an encouraging one. SSF suits you if the leaderboard is the point: you want a ranking that means something, you were already playing solo, and starting a second parallel economy sounds like the season rather than a tax on it.

It suits you badly if you are chasing Mythic Uniques on a schedule. Every route to one is a farm, the crafted route needs Pandemonium Fragments you now have to earn twice over, and nobody can hand you a spare. The same applies to the million fragment gem ladder. The mode does not change any drop rate, it just removes every shortcut around a bad streak.

And read the Progression tier again before deciding it is not for you. Tower Tier 100 for a cosmetic and a title is a much lower bar than "compete on a leaderboard" sounds, and it is the same bar for everyone.

If you only do one thing

Decide before you create the character, not after. The choice is locked for the season, the economy is separate, and there is no migrating a character or a stash across once you have started. Everything else about the mode is recoverable. That one is not.

If you do go SSF, the season's farming decisions matter more to you than to anyone else, because you cannot buy your way out of a gap. The Season 14 Farming Ledger is the same 48 decisions either way, they just all become load bearing.
